FANTASTIC! If I could describe this film by one word it would be this.

Logan: The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold who directed Knight and day (2010), 3:10 to Yuma (2007) and also the previous movie in the wolverine franchise, The Wolverine from 2013. This is the last portrayal of Hugh Jackman’s Logan as the character comes to a close by this movie according to Jackman himself.

If you, as me went in to the cinema or if you are going to, with high expectations you will probably not be disappointed by this film. It starts off almost immediately with introducing us to an old and torn Logan and the action sequences starts almost immediately that gets you hooked from the start. After that the movie goes in a slower pace for 15-20 minutes and we get some storytelling regarding Logan and his profession as well as being introduced to two characters: a mutant called Caliban who we saw in X-men: Apocalypse, played by Stephen Merchant and also the iconic Patrick Stewarts character, Charles Xavier, who especially looks really wore down and old in comparison to when we last saw him in X-Men: Days of future past. After a while we are introduced to one of the main

antagonists of the film Pierce played by Boyd Holbrook who does a really good job of being the douchbag villain. However later on the character I want to point out the most of being phenomenal is the young girl Laura: X-23 played by Dafne Keen. She kills it in this film, especially in the fighting sequences. She is the best character together with Jackman, WELL DONE GIRL!

The strongest attribute of this film is the character dialogs and relations that they have to eachother. Logan and Charles relationship are perfect on screen (as before) and also the chemistry between Laura and Logan are spot on. As the plot continues we are being told that the mutant world has changed a lot in this movie with them being hunted down and almost being extinct. Logan and Charles are the only two mutants from the old x-men movies that are still alive and they try the best they can to survive the harsh realty together with Laura.

So to finally summarize, the action is brutal; it’s well choreographed and just amazing throughout the entire film. Jackman kills it as always as Logan and Stewart does Charles Xavier perfect as usual. The antagonists are good, the smaller role during the plot works out well, Dafne Keen is outstanding as the mutant Laura, the chemistry between the characters are spot on and the plot is solid. There are some very small issues on a few parts during the runtime but nothing worth complaining about.

The film does not disappoint and IS the best “X-men universe” movie out there, taking the first spot from Days of future past and X2: X-men United.

Well done James Mangold, cast and the rest of the crew working on this film and making it the best X-men movie out there.

Final grade: 9,5 / 10
